tramping

In New Zealand, overnight hiking is called tramping. Trampers carry all their gear with them and tramp either to huts (there is an extensive system in the NZ backcountry) or tent camp. Tramping can be a verb as well as an activity as in "I'm all tramped out" at the end of a long day.

We spent the weekend tramping up in Nelson Lakes National Park.

a self-satisfied Holy Joe self-righteous public beating of the breast in a holier-than-thou 'I am a sinner but you are a far greater sinner than me, ye unclear shite' type of way

I am sick and tired of the craw-thumping of certain self-styled environmentalists who tell people who were born in a rural area that they cannot live there.
The right manipulates the financial side while craw thumping about moral values, while the left undermines every social good while crying crocodile tears for the underdog.
