Cross-friending is the practice of becoming friends on social media site with a friend of a friend, without your immediate friend's knowledge. This is considered poor etiquette by many.

When my co-worker cross-friended my prom-date from high school, I told him cross-friending is usually a bad idea.

Toxic Friend

a toxic friend is someone who manipulates you and wants to use you. sometimes for popularity. cliche movies and moms will say it’s because they are insecure and want to bring others down so they look better. most of the time it’s because they don’t like you and want to bring you down. they just kinda want you to feel less than what you are because they think you deserve it. you don’t. if ur friend is mean, bossy, manipulative, and controlling, drop them like a hydro flask♥︎♥︎♥︎

Any one of those thousands of "friends" you may have made on any number of social media sites (Instagram, Facebook,......and yes even Myspace) that you have never met or will probably never meet, but claim as a buddy because they "liked" your pictures and or "followed" you.

Steve: "So my friend Dave Chappelle and I were chatting today"

Joe: "Fool you know damn well you don't know Dave Chappelle!"

Steve: "Yeah I do! We are good friends"
