Idiom. The act of quitting your job in a fit of reckless fury, perhaps justified, but still hasty in nature. Origin: JetBlue Flight attendant Steven Slater, early 21st c., August 9-10, 2010. cf. "jumping the shark"; 20th c. "postal".

USA Today: "As the plane was landing, Slater got on the public-address system and cussed at the passenger, the Port Authority said. He then grabbed at least one beer, activated the slide, slid down and went to his car, it said."
