Straining your thinking processes repeatedly until you hopefully find resolution in the form of an intellectual orgasm.
Wacking off theory after theory until you come to a head with a solution.

I've been working on this problem continually for some time, and my intellectual masturbation has finally led to resolution.

Jane: Did you get your homework finished?

Dick: I spent last night engaged in intellectual masturbation til I finally was satisfied. It really drained me.

Guitar-wielding fake coffeeshop intellectualists come and play their ditties at Starbucks, Abdoun and Boooks@Cafe coffeeshops in Amman all with an air of put-on knowledge of 'cords' and fretboard theatrics, while they haven't got the first molecule of taste. They should at least buy good gits and read some good poetry.

Faux-Intellectual

n. A person, usually male, that believes that they are intellectually gifted, making them superior to their perceived competition inherently. What makes them so unique (and unpleasant...) is their outspoken manner of self-righteousness. Most examples, to give the reader an application of the term, respond to outrage headlines with utmost skepticism, and will bother the poster for facts to prove to the faux-intellectual that it isn't actually fake. Faux-intellectuals almost always behave as if they are above impassioned impulse reactions - when, in reality, such reactions are normal. Ironically, as an aside, most faux-intellectuals respond rather defensively and abrasively to being called out.

"Terry spent a good four hours last night picking apart the new GoT season and talking down anybody that interjected."
"He's a faux-intellectual. He needs to admire the sound of his own voice at least six times a day, else he's liable to combust."

intellectually honest

Opposite if "intellectually dishonest"; an unemotional, logical, and "honest" expression of the truth without the omission of any suporting facts. Yet another buzz word that is itself an example of what it tries to define usually used by rightwingers.

The buzz word or catch phrase "intellectually honest" is itself intelelctually dishonest. This is because you are either being honest or your not; there's no "intellect" involved.
