Suburban Dictionary

Having the same meaning as "glossary", this term refers to a special kind of dictionary containing terms specific to a particular field such as technology, medicine, or moviemaking. This term is derived from the combination between the prefix "sub-" (as in "subreddit", "subpost", "subtopic", "subchapter", "submenu") and "Urban Dictionary".

When researching game development terms, I found the Suburban Dictionary to be a treasure trove of jargon and a glossary of terms in industry-specific language.

suburban thug

a person, usually a white guy from ages 12-17 who wears all nike/adidas/gap/some kind of sports brand and shops for that brand religiously during school hours. disrespectful, thinks hes good at sports. reposts vary from religious ones to thug life female objectification content. says 'ight' unironically even in texts.

Chevrolet Suburban

A large SUV built by Chevrolet. With a long history, being famous for being the car Chevrolet has manufactured since the 1930's, it is also longer than the Chevrolet Tahoe, which is exactly like the Suburban, but only a bit shorter in length. The Suburban has good leg room for all three rows, and is also a very good family car.

Random guy: Where are you going for vacation?

Random guy 2: I do not know, but all we know is that we're taking the Chevrolet Suburban!

semi-suburban

An adjective to describe those areas that are still within Chicago's municipal boundaries, but possess some characteristics that are typically found in the suburbs (especially the inner and "first-ring" suburbs).

Lot sizes are larger, houses contain well-manicured lawns in the front as well as in the back, a good portion of the residents are either city or county workers, there still are numerous public transit options but a majority of the transportation is car-centric, and most buildings are four stories or less.

Some examples include Edison Park, Beverly, Edgebrook, Morgan Park, Mt Greenwood, and Norwood Park.

Bob and his wife want to a buy a bigger house that's still in the city so they're looking in those semi-suburban areas.
