Lowering your gaze is simple: avoid looking at the opposite gender, the past of others they don’t want you to see, things that incite jealousy, and things that anger you. This concept can be applied in many ways, but it’s a command in our deen: "O believing men, lower your gaze." Think of it as keeping your head down and getting to work—don't focus on others; focus on yourself.
