A Philadelphia-area colloquialism for sub or submarine sandwich often known in the New York City Metropolitan area as a hero.

Exceptions:

One would not say "Meatball hoagie" they would say "Meatball sandwich" or "Meatball sub".

Let's go to Gino's to grab a hoagie.

Hoosier

St. Louis Meaning: white trash of the worst kind. Also used as an adjective to describe anything several notches below your own perceived sophistication. Dates back to a strike that occurred in St. Louis in the 30's. During this strike, scab workers from Indiana were brought in to fill in for strikers. The perjorative hoosier stems from the St. Louis workers' lack of appreciation for this.

Noun:
Rob: Man, I didn't like that bar.
Mike: Yeah, it's full of hoosiers.

Adjective:
Edna: Did you see how she was dressed?
Cynthia: Yes, she is sooo hoosier.

a sweatshirt with a hood and a big 'kangaroo' pocket in front. you can just about always find one at university book shops with the college's name on the front. available at tourist shops, too. (gift shops in general) never leave the house without one, even in two-hundred degree weather. if you can't bear to wear it anymore, tie it around your waist.

You: OMG! I can't find my hoodie!
Mom: Just leave without it! You'll be late for school!
You: I'll die and never be at school again if I leave without it

A name given to people from Indiana. The people of Indiana are proud to bare the name, and it is a misconception that it is derogatory for a red-neck farmer. There are a lot of myths about the origin of the name, but the truth is that nobody really knows where it came from (your guess is as good as anyone elses). Also the mascot of Indiana University.

Hoagie

Sandwich (made in Philadelphia and surrounding areas) on Italian long Roll. Consists of any type of sliced Deli(lunch) meat that is heavily layered inside the roll. A Hoagie is made up of any combination of shredded lettuce,sliced tomato,sliced cheese,hot peppers,sweet peppers, mayo on roll. A hoagie can also be made with tuna instead of deli meat

This word is also used to describe a typical girl thats from the ghetto i.e. HOOD RATS..

But hood niggas say hoodie as a term of endearment for their peoples that came from their same hood.
