The Chargers were hindered by poor teams, despite having good players, for many years afterwards. They picked perhaps the biggest bust in NFL history when Ryan Leaf was selected number 1 overall at quarterback. Finally turned it around in 2004, with their only playoff berth in recent years, behind incredible runningback LaDainian Tomlinson.
