O-Block stew

A historical, traditional stew recipe originating in and around the Parkway Garden Homes (O-Block) in Chicago. Its recipe varies, but it has been described by locals as a cross between chili con carne and rice-based soup that also contains mushrooms and peppers grown in O Block. It is commonly prepared as a festive, perpetual stew.

Sko Block

Name refers to either one of two large apartment complexes in the suburbs town of Skokie, Illinois. Both buildings are located near Church Street between Keating and Lavergne Avenues. The name might also refer to parts of the town considered to be "ghetto" by wealthier residents. May also be written as Sko'Block or Sko-Block.

Prevention of someone else's ability to slack off. At work, if your computer is being repaired, but you are offered a loaner to continue to be productive, the IT guy 'slack blocked' you. If at home, you're significant other presents a reasonable request to do something, that prevents you from vegging.

My computer is being worked on by IT and I thought I'd have the afternoon off, but they slack blocked me with a loaner machine.
