Choking on gold

In an instance of embroiled internecine conflict between rappers, a.k.a beef, the idiom "Choking on gold" refers to the inability of a given party to reprise an ad hominid attack due to the terms of a private concession. The concession, usually initiated through some form of bribery or intimidation, is knowingly accepted at the cost of making the silenced party appear less real.

Mac Miller was choking on gold shortly after the release of Drake's new EP.
