to give up due to exhaustion. Originally a term referring to a tired horse that begins to run less aggressively, backing off on the "pull" a rider normally feels on the reins from an eager horse. Also used as a generic term for an exhausted horse.

Not good enough to be a real cop (commonly called bacon, so they just settled for being bacon bits. They are commonly seen at malls. They carry a beater stick but no guns or anything a real policeman has.

Small pieces of unknown origin passing themselves off as bacon bits. Commonly found today at many salad bars as well as grocery sheleves. Easily identified by consistency of small pieces of gravel.
