Abattoir Blues

From the song by Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, used to describe the depressed feeling you get about the modern world in general. An abattoir is a slaughterhouse, so the term, in a more in depth way, means you feel the world is lining itself up for slaughter, much like cows do at a slaughterhouse.

Man 1: Hey, are you all right? You've seemed kinda depressed lately.
Man 2: Oh, it's okay, I've just got a case of abattoir blues.

The assumption that a central, exclusive, amorous relationship is normal for humans, in that it is a universally shared goal, and that such a relationship is normative, in the sense that it should be aimed at in preference to other relationship types

Assuming that because someone enjoys and gets excited at the prospect of seeing a person they care about is because they secretly have a crush on them is perpetuating amatonormativity.

In Arabic, a female worshiper (amat-) of God, Allah (-ullah).

Similar to Abdullah which means a male worshiper (abd-) of God, Allah (-ullah).

Both Amatullah and Abdullah could be used as given names and could also, however rarely, be used to respectfully address unknown persons.

- Assalamu alaikum, I'm looking for my friend Amatullah (Abdullah), have you seen her (him)?
- Excuse me, amatullah (abdullah), could you please tell me the way to the nearest bus-stop?
- A true amatullah (abdullah) will maintain a good heart.
