Virtual Swatting

A false report of a serious breach in a video game that is sent to the game administrators (usually as a prank or a fit of revenge) in an attempt to get the victim suspended or banned.

Originates from the fact that swatting is the act of reporting a serious crime to an address to bring a SWAT team there

When I was logging on to play Splatoon the other day, I got a message saying that I was banned for being unsportsmanlike. I did nothing wrong; I was merely playing the game fairly and not taunting. It was just pure skill.

Upon a subsequent investigation after I appealed the ban, they found out that it was indeed a false report, so it was merely a Virtual Swatting
