The act of completely destroying a problem with Nuclear weapons as a way to be sure the problem is completely removed.

Examples

(Aliens) "I say we lift off and nuke the site from orbit, Its the only way to be sure."

(Event Horizon) "I have no intention of leaving her, Doctor. I will take the Lewis and Clark to a safe distance, and then I will launch TAC missiles at the Event Horizon until I'm satisfied she's vaporized. Fuck this ship!

The humans in Avatar should have just used the Ellen Ripley Maneuver instead of fighting them.
