Koopa

1. Nintendo characters; A race of turtle-like reptiles that come in all shapes and sizes. Most of them are Bowser's servants, but there are also a lot of good Koopas. Bowser's Koopas have many various soldier ranks, most common of which is "Koopa Troopas" (which is another word for "troopers", if I'm not mistaken).

2. Koopa is also the name of their king. Koopa or King Koopa, also known as Bowser or Lord Bowser. But anyone who watched old Mario cartoons or played Super Smash Bros. Melee on Japanese mode knows that already.
Ahem. Anyway, his full name (as far as I know) is King Bowser Koopa.

Safety Koopa

Red-shelled koopas, as seen in Super Mario Bros., who are safety-conscious, and won't walk of ledges.

Koopa Troopa

The turtle-like enemies that are in most of the Mario games. There are 2 different types of Koopa Troopas: ones with green shells and ones with red shells. Koopa Troopas that fly are called ParaTroopas. The first game you could play as a Koopa Troopa was in Super Mario Kart. When Mario jumps on a Koopa Troopa, his shells falls off, and you can jump on it, carry it, or have Yoshi eat it and spit it back. Easily one of the coolest Mario bad guys.

King Koopa

King Koopa is the Super Mario Brothers' original arch-nemesis. After appearing in the first Super Mario Bros. game and on the animated television show, Koopa sort of Evolved into King Bowser, which is the form he now inhabits.

Recently, rapper Chamillionaire has ripped off the King Koopa name and used it as a nickname, sullying the name of this badass villian forever.
