Gentrification

People playing the real estate market want people to get shot no matter where they live, whether they were from South Central LA before they got into real estate, or from a small town out in the country, or somewhere in between. It's all cheaper land and dollar signs in their eyes.
Gentrification is the same thing no matter where it takes place. The guy/girl asking for 5 dollars or a cigarette usually already has his/her own money to buy this shit with, he/she just wants to charge somebody else for it. It's rare to meet somebody who doesnt ask for anything, and doesnt get on TV or ask for a donation for help, it's rare because when somebody doesnt ask for anything, they dont get noticed.

gentrification

Like Replacement Theory in reverse, except it's actually real.
Thank God for gentrification, it's not like there aren't way more than enough white middle class suburbs in this country.

Gentrification

An angsty dogwhistle used by culturally territorial locals to mean:
“I don’t like you because your financial pursuits are disrupting my hyper-niche neighborhood vibe.”

Often tossed around as if it signals some noble, systemic resistance—but more often just a melodramatic protest against having one’s narcissistically curated subculture overwritten by the inevitable Pareto dynamics of a free economy.
“Kayla called it gentrification when a developer replaced her crypto-themed hookah bar with condos—because her micro-scene of sea-shanty DJs and tarot nights was apparently sacred ground.”

gentrification mullet

An intentionally ugly mullet that is popular with hipsters who are romantasizing being poor but actually have money.
"You know your rent is going up when those gentrification mullet folks pull up to your neighbourhood."

Reverse Gentrification

When city council displaces renters to house the homeless. Akin to free energy proponents believe that making people homeless will solve homelessness.

Imminent signs of Reverse Gentrification include large encampments of tents and homeless people at parks or other public locations, that move elected officials to buy your rental homes to solve the problem.

Usually results in urban charm to your neighborhood. You can expect frequent visits from police, fire department and other first responders.
Tenant1: We all got notice to vacate and I'm not sure we can stay in the area.
Tenant2: No worries. I hear Reverse Gentrification is helping out folks like us.

Council1: I got a great idea, let's buy homes to shelter homeless!
Council2: Displace people to house people, you mean Reverse Gentrification?
Council1: Yes...And we could harness free energy to pay the utilities!
Council2: Aren't we smart!
