Bowden is currently competing with his fellow lich lord Joe Paterno to see who will retire (die) first.

The 2006 Orange Bowl between Bobby Bowden and Joe Paterno was also known as the Geriatric Bowl.

Bobby Bowden Curse

refers to the pattern of unfortunate events laid upon Florida State University due to the mistreatment and disrespect given to former football coach, Bobby C. Bowden upon his "retirement" from FSU. The only methods believed to exorcise the curse are to kill oneself or burn their Florida State University diploma. The curse is believed to be closely correlated to the famous Native American folklore of Chief Tut's Curse.
