Afterstood

Similar to understood, but it’s something you hear and it doesn’t compute immediately. Your brain backtracks to figure out what you just heard but you’ve already said,”what?” or “huh?
Before anyone can repeat what they’ve said, you’ve already figured it out.

My wife told me something and I said “what?”. Then I said,
“Oh never mind, I afterstood you. “
