Death Cab for Cutie 

A wonderful young group singed by Barsuk records from the indie-rock homeland of Washington State. Name came from a psychedlic song from the 60's.

Not emo. Unfortunately, if you write lyrics that are borderline depressing you get labeled "emo" when their music is more in line with other bands of that areas like Modest Mouse, and even The Shins.

Easily one of the greatest bands today.

Emo? Please. Bright Eyes sounds even less emo these days.

ugly cute

Used to describe a homley, funny looking pet; usually a doggy or pussycat that is so ugly it's actually cute. You tend to feel sorry for this critter. The runt of the litter. Bull dogs, pugs, chihuahuas, manx and hairless cats come to mind.

Mr. Bigglesworth the hairless pussy cat in Austin Powers looked so freakish you couldn't help but go awww, he's so ugly cute.

The act of accidentally taking a short cut, when a longer route was planned.

By Charles' calculations it would take about 30 minutes to walk to the the local discotheque.

As he had time to kill he decided to take a long cut through a new neighborhood.

12 minutes later Charles saw the unmistakeable lights emanating from the disco and thought to himself 'man I wanted to take it slow, but all the time I was cutting butter'
