It seems it only work if an individual has not been depleted of energy. For example, a Morphocytosian can add chloroplasts to its cell so they could perform photosynthesis. The most fascinating part about this civilization is that the majority had modified their blood and made pink blood cells. The pink blood cell is both a red and white blood cell, but compromised. It carries slightly less oxygen and weaker than human white blood cells. The solution to the problems is to make 100% of their blood pink blood cells. With this, their immunity is still better than ours.
