When someone else in the residence is making annoying noise but you can't, or would rather not, confront them because they wouldn't listen, or would retaliate by criticizing you. So, you make noise (such as playing music) so you don't have to listen to them.

My Sister was belly dancing upstairs, so I plugged my headphones and played some music on the computer for drown sound.

Infamous drinking game that is typically held in frats nation wide. The rules are simple, the first person to need a stomach pump loses not only the game and their dignity but also the privilege of having a working liver. This should not be confused with a drowning liver.

drowned by a seal

Letting life's struggles, uncertainties, or arch nemesis (seal) get the best of you. Losing the challenges life throws at you and ultimately drowning (suicide) in deep waters like a seal does to its prey.

My roommate is academically drowning, she has three papers due in two days!
My professor for philosophy assigned summaries for five 20-page readings this Tuesday that are due today. I feel like I am academically drowning.
