The term is a combination of “swinging” (married couples sharing sexual encountered with others outside their marriage) and “flings” (brief, meaningless, NSA sexual encounters). Whereas “swinging” is considered a lifestyle, “flinging” is more of a shared, naughty hobby of periodic trysts with others. Unlike typical “swinger” lifestyle couples, “flingers” do little to no planning/searching, putting very limited amounts of time/energy into finding other similarly inclined couples and singles. Instead, “flinders” are more casual in their approach, taking full advantage of sexual opportunities if and when they present themselves, usually during get-always - vacations, holiday celebrations, or weekends - when the married “flinger” couple is away from family and friends and free to kick back and be themselves.
