1. To describe someone who is doing tricks with the smoke from any nicotine device, usually a hookah
2. To describe someone who is getting really high from any nicotine device

Derived from a scene from the original Alice in Wonderland where the blue caterpillar is seen creating vowels from the smoke from his hookah

thought it was more common expression.... but it basically means to reflect on or analyze something. Referring to how stoners get lost in thoughts while blazing.
