A game people love to bash, despite being fairly good overall. Yes, it's addictive to new players, and there's a lot of grind involved, but coming from the high level community I can say that it's very enjoyable, once you get to the point I'm at at least. If you play like it's your day-job then of course you're going to get addicted and eventually bored of it, and grow to despise it. But once you really get to know the game, it's community, and it's massive YouTube community, the grinding aspect becomes irrelevant and easy, and the game becomes very rewarding (Assuming you actually pay to play, otherwise the game's a massive waste of time with no real goals or purposes.)

Get the Runescapemug. Runescape is a MMORPG created by JaGeX Ltd. The game offers a player many skills to train such as all forms of combat (magic, ranged, and mele) as well as non-combat skills like mining and runecrafting.
The game has a large amount of players in F2p (free to play) and in P2p (pay to play). The free version is almost like a demo, which gives the player a basic understanding of the game as well as hundreds of items to use. The pay to play version has exponentially larger amounts of items, quests, and skills to train. The Pay to play version costs $5.99 a month.
Many people enjoy the game, but also, many people despise it for it's graphics, repetitive gameplay (Point and click style), and large amounts of younger kids starting off accounts in the F2p version.
Also, the game is described as being HIGHLY addictive. As a current runescape player myself, I suggest Taking large amounts of time off of playing runescape to focus on school work and a social life.
If given the opportunity to socialize with friends or train a Runescape Account, choose the friends, RuneScape Accounts will always be there for you, and are not deleted by JaGeX unless the account has had over approx. 500+ days of no use.

Get the Runescapemug. Look guys, seeing all the negative comments, I just gotta say something. Yes, runescape CAN be addictive, but you just gotta limit yourself. I know from experience because I was literally playing nine hours a day. I realized how runescape was taking my life, so I stopped playing for a while. About a year later I reactivated my account. I have to admit, a lot has changed, and don't get me wrong, I love the game, but I limit myself. All it takes is a little self-control. Don't listen to the people who say, "Don't play!" It's YOUR choice not THEIR choice. Personally, I would recommend this game, 9.5 out of 10.
Yes, there is lag, and it is somewhat over-crowded, but the amazingness (I may be making that word up) makes up for it. You can do quests, level up your character, and if you need to get away from the real world every once in a while, just calm yourself, go on runescape, and take your anger out on some goblins.

Get the runescapemug. Stupid game where 850.000 people =(guys of 12 years old, nerds, fags, guys with no life.) play this game because they have no idea how many things they miss in real life. I hear nerds and fags talking to me about how their daily runescape life was. E.G. "YES, Almost 2 levels further and I can fish sharks." Then the non-players (Including me) react like "Yaaay" in the meaning of "Do we care?" I have a friend who is never changing of subject to talk when we are heading to watch a movie, or renting a game or when I'm sporting and he's phoning me about what I'm doing, I'm inviting him to sport with me and asks him to wear training clothes but when he comes I don't see his training clothes just as nerdy as it always is and he comes with bullshit talks of runescape.
