Eugene is most well known for 3 things, being a founding member of the Industrial workers of the World, getting arrested for speaking out against Woodrow Wilsons decision to go to war, and getting about 1 million votes in the election of 1912. After he left his post as leader of the Socialist party, they were severely weakened due to infighting.
