I derivative of pity sex. When a action sports company sponsors and individual in exchange for promoting their goods not on the basis of being top talent but granting them status because they make up for lack of talent in other areas such as stoke, balls or age.

I can't believe that fat middle aged long boarder got sponsored by Breaking Boards just because he has more courage to ride huge scary monster hills; Or perhaps it's because he is older than my parents; Or they just feel sorry for him. Anyway, I am the best skater, he sucks, and I am going to hate on him because of it... pft! What a pity sponsorship!

Pity Ploy

A pity ploy (n.) is a term used when someone fishes for affection, compliments, or a free pass to excuse how they act by self degrading themselves to make you feel bad for them. Pity= is what the person wants from you and ploy= is the fact that they came up with a motive and plan to get pity from others. Ergo, the term pity ploy is formed. Don't be this person it's narcissistic.

Friend 1: *sends receipts of an altercation*
Friend 1: "Do you see how this bitch literally pulls an 'oh woe is me' card every time I have a valid point"
Friend 2: "omfg they do that to me too- yeah it's clear that they just wanted to come up with a pity ploy to win the argument"
Friend 1: "I know dude it's annoying as shit"

Pity Cookie

A virtual "reward" you can give someone whom annoyingly complains about situations in their life that either lack merit or they are doing so to derive unnecessary sympathy.

Person who is complaining: "I'm way pissed off man...my Dad is buying me a new BMW for my birthday when I specifically asked for a Ferrari!"

Annoyed Friend: "Wow...that really sucks. How 'bout I warm up the oven and bake you some f*cking Pity Cookies then!"
