When a female becomes attractive after a period of time. Sometimes used to describe a female post relationship I.e. break up, dumped. Commonly used by guys who have been friend zoned, to describe a girl that's turned them down by describing how attractive that girl has become in a certain amount of time. Typically causes sense of regret in men. Makes women more desirable.
"My Ex girlfriend looks more attractive since we broke up"
"It's the Afterburner effect, she's now more attractive and desirable to other men.
"I wish I asked that girl out when I had the chance, since then she got hotter and has a boyfriend. That Afterburner effect screwed me over".

A tounge-in-cheek reference to the internet rule stating: "Once you start posting transphobia, you never post normally again." This rule is most famously reflected in the career of children's author JK Rowling, thus the term.
"Did you see Ann put 'Gender-critical' in her twitter bio?"
"Yeah, looks like she's fallen victim to The Rowling Effect"
