A professional baseball player who has spent some time in Major League Baseball but is not quite good enough to remain there and often splits his playing in the major and minor leagues. Based on the minor league system of an A being added as you rise through each level of the minor leagues.

A player with a below .200 batting average in MLB might be a 4A player.

It can also mischieviously refer to an immigrant, most commonly, an asylum seeker or illegal immigrant.

The term became an in-joke amongst fans of Sidders, who makes UK political commentary videos using language and themes from games like Runescape and Minecraft.
