The act of being chosen at random to fight a battle, do work, or otherwise anything at all you had nothing to do with until that moment of being chosen. Often this is accompanied by actual experts or individuals involved with this chosen task quitting the task and dumping it in your lap -- now having an excuse to do so.

"My boss pikachu'd me today that new big project we're asked to deliver by the end of the month. I don't know anything about this project; it was just a completely random arm-grab -- weren't you working this project before?"
