Ibius

Acronym for "Irish Born In United States". Usually used to distinguish between "Irish" Americans who are several generations removed from immigration and native Irish people. Sometimes used derogatorily in the same manner as "plastic paddy"

"Ah, I heard Duncan McNamara's actually an Ibius."
"Really? I thought he was born in Cork."

Ibitha Syndrome

Cultural appreciation cluelessly dialed past the point of self-satire. Ibitha syndrome — named after a phonetic misspelling of the Spanish party destination, Ibiza — is a potentially life-long affliction that can stem from as little as one week spent abroad. Signs and symptoms include an imagined loss of one's native language; quotidian complaints about coffee or bread; and an inability to avoid bringing up any amount of time spent out of country.

Ever since Carmen's study abroad to Spain, she's had a raging case of Ibitha Syndrome. I heard her say "Grathias" in the McDonald's drive through on Friday.
