An underrated member of the 747 family, it was designed to compete with the McDonnell Douglas DC-10 and Lockheed L-1011 TriStar, introduced in 1971/1972. Pan Am wanted a 747-100 derivative to fly nonstop between New York and the Middle East, a request also shared by Iran Air, and the first order came from Pan Am in 1973. Boeing shortened a 747-100 by 14 metres by eliminating fuselage sections fire and aft. Out of all 45 airframes built, one was acquired by NASA and turned into a flying space telescope/observatory and two others were acquired by Pratt and Whitney to function as engine testbeds.

Getting laid off and trying to prepare for what's next in years ahead where the future doesn't look bright is one thing, but if you like working for Boeing, things are good, and leaving your job is voluntary, what would make you want to leave? Having a job at a time when not everybody does seems like something you wouldn't want to trade for another opportunity.
People will fly and travel again some day, the Boeing buyout is taking place pretty quick since travel slowed.

A rare disease only contracted by Boeing whistleblowers which cause a myriad of symptoms including an extreme urge to commit suicide, as well as contracting other diseases. These symptoms usually lead to the subsequent death of the victim.
"Bob contracted Boeing Whistleblowia and decided to smoke 50 blunts, lay down on some railroad tracks and shoot himself in the back of the head."
