Punk

A fucking idiot, that often has a band, or plays on drums. But, if a punk does not have a band, you can call your own siblings that, as an inside joke, or if they do something mean to you. If one of your friends comes up to you, and says that you're a punk, and runs away, that certainly means that they're mad at you, and that you should say sorry. But if you tell your friend or sibling something funny, and they start laughing, they may tell you "You Punk!" just because it was a very funny joke. A punk doesn't always have to be mean, but often appears to be weird, has a band, or often goes crazy. You'll often spot a punk doing a cartwheel, or doing a crazy made-up dance.
"Damn, Johannson, why are you being such an idiot?! Isn't it super easy to learn to play the piano?"
"I'm trying! Why are you being so mean, you PUNK!!"

Punk

A punk is a member of the "punk movement" from the 70's and 80's. These kids generally dressed in holey jeans and dirty t-shirts with old sneakers, mainly because they couldn't afford better apparal.

Punks were largly associated with the genre of rock and roll that was named for there movement. Punk bands were made up of punks and the music displayed the themes of the punk movement.

Punks generally believed in a few common principals:
1. They commonly felt that there was no future for them, and that they would end up in the same poverty that they had been born into. This usually caused them to act in somewhat destructive ways. They usually were angry at society for that they could not move up in the social ranks.
2. Punks were not in favor of the goverment. They felt that the government was unfair to people of there stature. Sinse they felt so against the goverment they usually acted out in ways opposite of what was politically correct.
3. Punkers generally liked things perceived as negative such as violance, anarchy, drugs, sex, and things of that type. They rejected the norm of society, probably because the norm of society had rejected them.
4. They enjoyed punk music and dressed poorly for the reasons previously stated.
Kid: Dad, you're from the 80's, what's a REAL punk?

Dad: Well I was a punk back in my day

Kid: Whatever dad, your hairs not green. Plus, you were POOR when you were a kid. You could NEVER afford the sick clothes all the punk kids wear.

Punk

Punk is not a way you look, it's a state of mind. It's not mohawks and DIY Jackets. Typical Street Punk clothing may include mohawks, liberty spikes, combat boots, bondage pants (usually plaid), and leather or denim jackets. The MOST important thing I will tell you is just because you have a mohawk, doesn't mean you're punk. I myself had a mohawk, but I did it for idols(Tim Armstrong, Lars Frederiksen, etc) not for fashion. Punk is truly a mindset of independence. The freedom America provides should let us do anything, Anarchy if you will. No stereotypes are true. 'A punk has a mohawk and wears combat boots,' Henry Rollins from the legendary Hardcore Punk band 'Black Flag' is very simplistic. Once again punk is not a fashion, but a mindset.
Person 1: Look at that guy! He's doing whatever he wants to!
Person 2: That's pretty punk.

LATER

Person 1: That guy is abiding by the rules, but he's got these huge spikes on his leather jacket.
Person 2: Poser punk.

punk

Originally, jail lingo for a subservient, cuckolded inmate indebted to another for protection and in return obliged to perform favors both of a sexual nature and otherwise.
The term came to refer to the music and culture described above as young musicians and people in the late 70's and early eighties felt alienated by the incorporation of formerly anti-estaplishment hippie culture.
"Listen fish I didn't make sure Big Mink didn't shiv ya at mess for nothing. So now you better put on these pantyhose and get yo knees dirty right quick cuz you MY punk now, Betty..."
