Olha

Olha is Ukrainian version of Olga, which is female name popular in Eastern Europe and Latin America. Name originates from Scandinavian "Helga". To Kievan Russ (Ukraine now) was brought with invited Scandinavian Princes around 500-600 AD. But became popular around introduction of Christianity around 900 AD. Well-known is Princess Olga, grandmother of Prince Volodymyr the Great (the one who made Christianity Official State Religion). She was the first Christian Princess in Kievan Russ, big fan of books and education. I believe, she was the single cause of popularity of the name in Slavic countries. Not many people new she wasn't from noble family, but a daughter of ferryman. She driving paddle ferry across the Dnipro River and that is there Prince Igor spotted her. She had many sons. After her husband was killed during tax ride, she sorely ruled country until her oldest son reached adolescence and was closely supervising state offers until very old age.

Stereotypically, attributes of this great princess are applied to all Olgas. Name is particularly popular among Ukrainian Diaspora. There is no difference in how Ukrainians or Russians pronounce the name in their native language, but there is difference is how they spell their names in English. You can see the origin by differed spelling - Olha (Ukraine), Olga (Russian speaking countries, Poland, Latin America).

For short - Olia, Olichka, Olyunia, Olka, Olana.

There are also male name Olga in use in Turkey

Oldham

My home town.Town in Lancashire, North-West England. Formerly biggest cotton producing town in the world now infamous for race riots. Home to Oldham Athletic AFC. Local neighbours- (Rochdale)(Tameside)(Bury)(Manchester). Some areas severely poverty stricken others such as High Crompton quite wealthy.(Chavs) roam around the streets and most Oldhamers deny their Oldham heritage preffering to say they're from Manchester.
Famous Oldham people-Paul Scholes,Mark Owen. Also (winston Churchill) used to be MP for Oldham.

Olhado

A character from the sci-fiction book “Speaker for the Dead” by Orson Scott Card. A guy whose eyes were burnt by laser, so he has ones made of metal with a camera inside. He could record everything he saw, and plug his eyes to a computer to show a moving picture on the screen (no audio).

Oldham

Town about 6 miles north of Manchester. Troubled with gangs and drugs, if you dare to venture out on to Yorkshire Street for a night out you will most probably come home with some kind of facial disfigurement. However locals to the town feel some kind of connection to the place and being a 15 min drive to Manchester makes it not all that bad.
Oldhamer 1: You fancy a night out in Oldham tongiht?

Oldhamer 2: Where bouts?

Oldhamer 1: Cuba Cuba, Walkabouts, Maloneys, Bamboogie

Oldham

My hometown in Britain, outside of Manchester. Used to be a cotton town, now it is known for race riots and gang beatings. People fear to walk the streets for fear of violent assault. A history of child abuse in the mills, is now ridden with old people beaten to the ground. Possible Chav capital.
"Eyaa, where the Oldham mafia, give us your money or i'll deck your head in"
"why are your pants tucked in your socks?"
"'cos am gangsta"
