1. A TV or book in which all the male characters are gone (dead, left the show. etc) but the show goes on
with the female lead -- (Law & Order SVU)
2. Carrying on with promoting your sports team even though its obvious they are shadows of their former selves.
3. When male stars or politicians crash and burn, they send out young apologetic women or "non-threatening" manboys to defend them and hope against hope they will regain their former glory.
4. a bad ending to the show "Continuum".
