Get the bloombergmug. Named after Walter Bloomberg, a person on X/Twitter who tweeted false information on trump’s pause on tariffs. An effect that happens when the market briefly spikes after investors hear false information about something.
The first instance of the Bloomberg effect happened on April 7th, 2025 when an account by the name of “Walter Bloomberg” tweeted unverified information that trump would put a 90 day pause on tariffs with the exception of china. This caused Dow, NASDAQ, &, S&P 500’s stocks to briefly spikes after investors heard the news.
