Bactria is present day Northern Afghanistan and parts of Tajikistan, Iran, and Uzbekistan. The Balkh region is the heart of it all. Alexander the Great died in Bactria, thus his army was left stranded. Alexanders army settled in in the Persian province. Balkh is heavily influenced by the Greek culture. This is where Greek and Persia united sharing ideas, food, language, culture etc.
Gengish Khan and the Mongols destroyed Bactria. They were never able to restore to its former glory.
Bactrians are Greco-Persians. They speak the original Persian and are descended from Greece.
