A term originally used medically for people with mental disorders. The term was used as an excuse to rape, torture, and kill thousands of adults and children. It is a slur and extremely offensive as it reminds those actually struggling with mental health that somebody out there might just want them dead. This has not been reclaimed by any communities and is not a word to be used in common language or really at all.

People who would once be considered clinically r*tarded are crippled by a society that lacks supports, not their own mental health.

Someone who works at a direct care facility and helps to take care of people with developmental disabilities--especially ones with genetic cognitive disabilities. Essentially a baby sitter for retarded people.
