Martino's Law

1) A statute used in Jefferson County, Pennsylvania. States that for a couple to raise or adopt a foster child, they must first have a natural child of their own. Used to prevent mis care or child abuse in the county.

2) A slang word used to relate to unfit parents.
1) I heard those people in that blue house wanted to adopt, but they can't because Martino's Law won't let them.

2) I don't know about that couple at the end of the street. I think somebody better turn them in for violating Martino's Law.

Griffin's Law

1. Buy high, Sell low

2. If you can lose money in the stock market you will; a variation on Murphey's law.
I lost $100,000 selling my home in Dublin, but I followed Griffin's Law.

Stocks occasionally go up in value so that some make money; but Griffin's law be damned, I never do.

Spaghetti's Law

A derivation of Godwin's Law, which states that as a Usenet discussion, primarily one religious in nature, the probability of an allusion involving The Flying Spaghetti Monster approaches 1.

Note: the Flying Spaghetti Monster is also interchangeable with gnomes, elves, unicorns, fairies, etc.
"Let's say I'm a devout follower of a god known as The Flying Spaghetti Monster. Now, let's say I support horrendously bigoted notions based purely on the word (Spaghetti's Law, or Biblesghetti) of this floating hunk of spaghetti. You don't feel that's a bit unfair?"

"If you want me to worship a flying spaghetti monster, or guilt me into believing that faith in the spaghetti monster is important, you must first prove that the flying spaghetti monster exists."

Nuremberg Laws

The lack of a clear legal method of defining who was Jewish
The Nuremberg Laws classified people with four German grandparents as "German or kindred blood", while people were classified as Jews if they descended from three or four Jewish grandparents. A person with one or two Jewish grandparents was a Mischling, a crossbreed, of "mixed blood".1 These laws deprived Jews of German citizenship and prohibited marriage between Jews and other Germans.

Nelson's Law

Named in honour of Australian conservative politician, Brendan Nelson -

"As a debate about the economy continues, the probability of the increasing price of petrol at the bowser being mentioned by a non-government politician approaches one."

It is considered a disingenuous debating technique, analogous to Godwin's Law, unless the person raising the price of petrol is actually proposing a genuine alternative.

COROLLARY: Athanasi's Observation - the gap between a political discussion commencing and Nelson's Law being demonstrated decreases over time.
Ending every media release with a disingenuous reference to the cost of "getting petrol into the car" is an example of Nelson's Law.
