text-a-bout

A long and rapid fire text exchange between two or more people, usually about nothing, using mobile devices. Text-a-bouts usually are social in nature and in the past may have been grounds for other forms of conversation such as a phone call. " I was about to call Jane but we got into this big text-a-bout and didn't have to."

Not to be confused with Text-battle which is more combative in nature, a text-a-bout is usually more casual and sometimes flirtatious in nature. Seldom spoken about but you know when it occurs, typically 20-30 texts at a time would comprise a text-a-bout.

textbookphilia

A term referring to the phenomenon of students getting sexually aroused to the thought of their textbooks. "Textbookphilia" was coined by a female student at the University of Western Ontario who noticed this occurrence while studying at Allyn & Betty Taylor library.

Person 1: "Why is that boy getting a hard-on while studying his math textbook?"
Person 2: "I think he has a classical case of textbookphilia"

Textbook Preaching

Textbook preaching occurs when a teacher (usually a supply/cover teacher who is relatively inexperienced) teaches pupils by relying solely on the contents of whichever textbook relates to her current lesson (e.g. a teacher covering in Chemistry reading verbatim from a chemistry textbook)
More often than not, this method does absolutely nothing to help students learn, other than reinforcing already-negative attitudes about supply teachers and forcing pupils to seek out their own means of learning.
The only exceptions include teachers assigning tasks from the textbook or simply asking students to read extracts.

Pupil 1: Can you believe that? The supply teacher isn't even bothering, is she?

Pupil 2: How so?

Pupil 1: She's reading the contents of the textbook word-for-word! Classic case of textbook preaching.

Pupil 2: True that.

To walk into a place without having a sense of where you are going then to pull out your phone, pretend to read a text message, and turn the other way.

I accidentally walked into the wrong aisle in Publix and everyone seemed to be watching me, so I text turned back to where I needed to go.
