Depression is a mood disorder that causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest. It affects how you feel, think and behave and can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems. Symptoms of depression include feelings of sadness, tearfulness, emptiness or hopelessness, loss of interest or pleasure in most or all normal activities, sleep disturbances, including insomnia or sleeping too much, tiredness and lack of energy, so even small tasks take extra effort, reduced appetite and weight loss or increased cravings for food and weight gain, anxiety, agitation or restlessness, slowed thinking, speaking or body movements, feelings of worthlessness or guilt, fixating on past failures or self-blame, trouble thinking, concentrating, making decisions and remembering things, frequent or recurrent thoughts of death, suicidal thoughts, suicide attempts or suicide, and unexplained physical problems, such as back pain or headaches. Depression is treatable with medication, psychotherapy or both.

Get the depressed mug.End of the School Year Depression is that time around the end of May and until the last day of school. It’s a terrible feeling because you know you hate school, but you are used to seeing the same people everyday, every class has a different personality and you feel like you will miss that class because you may not have anyone in it next year. It’s worse if you have a crush. You don’t know if you have any classes with them and it sucks. But, the good news is, it goes away really fast.
