Make-under

When a person's look is overdone to the point of being unattractive, a make-under can help them figure out how to rock a more natural look. This term is usually applied to women, but I've met some men who are in dire need of make-unders too. A make-under usually involves a more natural makeup look, working with one's natural hair color and texture (or a natural looking hair dye job). It can sometimes involve stopping expensive habits like spray tanning, and a less gaudy or revealing wardrobe.

Megan wears way too much eyeliner and her foundation looks caked on. Her extensions don't match her hair and her clothes look like she's trying to give Lil' Kim a run for her money! She goes spray tanning every week too. She is in desperate need of a make-under!

To meet or come up to a required standard (from golf where a player must do equal or better than a certain score to continue)

e.g. 1 (original meaning)
The young player did not make the cut and was unable to join the team that year.

e.g. 2
Some say if Pluto were discovered today instead of 75 years ago, it woundn't make the cut.
(From this article about the potential 10th planet of the solar system (9 is the current recognized number), Pluto, the 9th and currently outmost planet was discredited by the newly discovered planet further away from the Sun)

Make it a Stinger

The phrase one says to a colleague/teammate before a good job “smack ass” upon himself. The meaning of the phrase suggests that they smack them hard to get adrenaline going to get them excited about the work in which they are performing.
