This longstanding joke plays on the fact that Rockstar Game's next installment of their GTA video game series has taken over a decade for them to release; with their last GTA game released in 2013.

The joke's been beaten to death and is used on almost every post, but until the game releases, they're not wrong.

The expression plays on consumers’ frustration with the video game’s drawn-out development by comparing it with random, goofy stuff that managed to “drop” before it.
