this is the likely origin of the word, and was probably used by french sailors and is definitely the etymology of the Louisiana french population our friend refers to in his own definition.

In reference to the existing definition, and its etymology, a) I remind you that Filipino is not a Language, it is a creole, a pidjin if you like mixed with the main language Tagalog. While the ikaloso(sp?no disrespect intended) dialect may have the word, that does not confirm the etymology at all.language, is constantly being contaminated in a multi-directional way. Your getting ready to leave to a VERY IMPORTANT appointment and your running very late all you have to do is put the baby in the carseat and you"ll be ready to go. You go to reach for the baby and boy oh boy does he stink! You notice there is poop down his leg, up his back, on his hands, on the floor...POOP EVERYWHERE! EVEN ON YOU NOW! AHHHHHHHHH!! The more you attempt to remove his clothing the messier he gets, It is smearing EVERYWHERE! AHHHHH!!!
