2023 Titan submersible incident

On 18 June 2023, Titan, a submersible operated by OceanGate, disappeared in international waters in the North Atlantic Ocean, approximately 400 nautical miles (740 km) off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada. The submersible, carrying five people, which includes Stockton Rush (CEO of OceanGate), Shahzada Dawood, Suleman Dawood, Hamish Harding, and Paul-Henri Nargeole was part of a tourist expedition to observe the wreck of the Titanic. Communication with Titan was lost 1 hour and 45 minutes into its dive to the wreck site. Authorities were alerted when it failed to resurface at the scheduled time later that day.

initial boning period

The initial boning period or IBP refers to the (typically) one to two months at the start of a relationship where the protagonist is able to overlook physical or mental imperfections of his/her partner simply because they are having sexual relations with them. Once the IBP has past, the relationship will either fail or one actually has to like the other person involved.

I can feel I'm nearing the end of the initial boning period - her cross-eyes and halitosis are really starting to annoy me. I'd really rather just play with myself.

when,once a person succumbs to a potentially pandemic/epidemic causing disease, his body is not returned to his relatives for burial but is instead incinerated (usually by government executive order) for obvious sanitary/hygiene reasons in order to prevent further infection and try and stop the rampant pandemic/epidemic from spreading.

all the religious and superstitious spiel aside, and despite the fact that sanitation-hygiene prescribed corpse incineration was inefficiently used during The Black Death epidemic of 1347-1351 in Europe, IMHO sanitation-hygiene prescribed corpse incineration should still be considered as a viable option in treating the current Ebola outbreak in Western Africa

the word was crafted to ensure that those who do not subscribe to the concept are made to feel ridiculous when they have to ask "what is an initialism?"

Nate: New York was great, we went on a tour of the Yune and met the Secretary-General.

Trav: Nate, it's not called the Yune, it's called the U.N., it's an initialism for United Nations

Nate: Oh.... what the fuck is an initialism?

Trav: You're an idiot everyone knows an initialsm is when you say the letters - like U.N.

Nate: Isn't that basically an acronym?

Trav: No you tool. An acronym is when you make the initials of something into a new word, like NASA. They're two TOTALLY different things.
