Slothitis

Slothitis is a medical condition that impinges a persons ability to move or react at regular human speeds. External observations and symptoms for the diagnosis of Slothitis may include: laziness, lethargy, dormancy, idleness, laxness, drowsiness, dullness, apathy, dreaminess, slowness, listlessness, tardiness... and do-nothingness.

A person suffering from Slothitis may often be found laying on a couch for days without having the need to move, too tired to talk, with cans and empty pizza boxes strewn across the lounge room while watching Netflix. Engaging with a person suffering from Slothitis will be almost pointless as they are usually sluggish, disinterested, passive, sleepy or perhaps even perpetually stuck between a state of slumber and awakeness.

As COVID-19 swept through the country, it became clear that the idleness, sluggishness, dormancy and unresponsiveness to the crisis was not from perceived apathy, but due to an undiagnosed case of 'Slothitis'.

Having a readily-available stress release when trapped in recurring, highly-tense situations, such as traffic jams or DMV lines.

Being nut soothed has the same effect of drinking hot coffee on a cold day, being distracted by good music or having a dog lick your face.
