Certain death is imminent. Doom is nearby. Taken from Condoleeza Rice's account of a feared biological poisoning that took place during George W. Bush's presidency. While waiting for test results she was told by an assistant "if the mice are feetup" (meaning the mice lying on their backs dead) then they would soon be dead themselves. If the mice were feet down (meaning the mice were up and walking about), then they would live.

"Dude! What's wrong?"

"The mice are feet up. My girlfriend caught me cheating on her."

1. Akin to a sidepiece/sidehoe. Someone you're casually dating, hooking up with, etc. with no or not much intent of a serious relationship. 'Bonus points' if your actual main/significant other knows about your mice/mouse.

Finds some of its roots from AHS: Hotel as a reference to the third person in the polygamous marriage of a couple in the season. She is referred to by the wife as 'little mouse'.

Person1: Is that your girlfriend/boyfriend?
Person2: Nah, just a mouse/one of my mice.
