During 2005/06, DfES defined a persistent truant as a pupil who missed 20 or more days classed as unauthorised absence. Children often refer to it as "doing a bunk", "bunking off" or "skiving".

The day immediately before welfare day when your bank acccount is bone dry and your cupboards are bare. Essentially the worst day of the month. In the Canadian province of British Columbia welfare day normally falls on the last Wednesday day of the month hence the term "welfare Wednesday".
I wanted to take my mother out to lunch but we had to scrounge for food in a dumpster behind Robin's Donuts because it was Bunk Tuesday.
