The process of being nominated for, or appointed to, a position of responsibility based on perceived popularity with no regard for competence.
Example 1: Sarah Palin.
Example 2: Dan Quayle.
Example 3(Daily usage): Jon was palinated to VP of Marketing because he was sleeping with the CFO.

1. To smear or mock someone using falsehoods, baseless accusations or unsubstantiated character assassinations for the purpose of blocking them from achieving a goal.

2. To write libelous or slanderous things about someone to oppose their agenda or to prevent them from obtaining the power to advance that agenda.

3. To file frivolous legal and ethical claims against someone for the purpose of bankrupting them or distracting them.
Although I never attended a nazi rally, a group of people got a potential employer who was Jewish to believe I did and I didn't get the job. I was Palinized.

First defined by Victor Davis Hanson in an article on National Review Online in reference to the MSM's unfair treatment of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin in the 2008 election cycle.

Pretty much the same concept as swift boat.
The liberal blogs had a field day trying to palinize the Republican VP candidate.
