Stigma Brag

A type of brag or status signaling behavior whereby someone highlights something that is generally shameful or embarrassing.

Can include things like failures (a failure resume), childhood hardship, poverty, illness or imperfect physical conditions, etc.

This type of brag is generally shunned or punished by audiences generally UNLESS the braggart is very high in status - in which case its often rewarded.

All those prestigious Harvard students are now making stigma brags by posting their "failure resumes" on linked-in and getting lots of likes. If they were from Boston community college then that wouldn't get them any attention at all!

Mundane hobby brag

When someone high in status brags about having a surprisingly mundane, lowly, stigmatized, crass, or boring hobby. Hobby examples include gardening, cooking, video games, arts and crafts, or some other activity typically associated with common people.

Panty Brag

Immediately telling your friends about a sexual experience, usually involving adding details that didn’t happen.

Jake couldn’t wait more than 5 minutes before panty bragging to his teammates about hooking up with Lisa. He said they went all the way, but Lisa said they just made out.

Sleep Bragging

Snoring so obscenely loud that its obvious you want everyone in the room to know even in your sleep. Can only be done unconsciously. Usually done by, but not limited to, Dads and Dogs.

Doug is on the couch Sleep Bragging again. I don't want to wake him but I can't hear the movie.

When a person brags indirectly by citing another person's compliment toward them.

I'm not bragging about my big dick! I was saying that my boyfriend kept saying, "Wow , your dick is so big!" So I guess that, at worst, I'm Bragging by Proxy.

To brag, highlight, or bring attention to hardship that one has experienced. Examples include highlighting one's experience of poverty, illness, abuse, or adversity

These types of brags get attention for higher status signalers and dismissal for low status ones

There's the head of that bank trauma bragging about his illness in order to get more clout in the newspaper headlines
