The polish bike ride

The person being bullied/tortured; is 1st stripped naked, or nearly naked, then is forced to carry the bully/torturer, on their back, while having their arms pulled back or bound back, then the victim's face is ground down against a hard surface, like a road, usually one on an incline.

Tommy gave Starmer the polish bike ride, calling him a cowardly loser, as he ground his face into the brutally rough, uneven, cobbled London road surface.

A small polish on a rusty ship

A futile, superficial effort to improve or beautify something that’s fundamentally broken, decayed, or doomed to fail. It highlights how a tiny cosmetic fix (the “small polish”) does nothing to address deep-rooted problems (the “rust” eating away at the entire structure).

Example 1: “The company’s new diversity training video was just a small polish on a rusty ship—everyone could see the toxic culture and massive layoffs coming, but hey, at least the promo looked shiny for a day.”

Example 2: “Fixing the website’s font while the server crashes every hour? That’s a small polish on a rusty ship, mate, no one’s fooled.”
